SUMMARY:Policy in Cinema: Gap between Advocacy and Implementation
DESCRIPTION:The title ‘Policy in Cinema: Only on Paper? Or Is There Space for Implementation and Advocacy?’ reflects the central question that will be explored during the panel discussion. The panelists will examine whether policies related to the cinema industry are simply theoretical concepts that exist on paper but are not effectively implemented in practice. \nThey will also explore the potential for advocacy to promote policy implementation\, and the impact that effective policy implementation can have on the film industry. The title underscores the importance of exploring the relationship between policy and practice in the cinema industry\, and the role that advocacy can play in promoting positive change. \nThe panelists will also examine the ways in which policies can promote diversity\, equity\, and inclusion in the film industry. They will discuss the importance of representation both in front of and behind the camera\, and the ways in which policies can support underrepresented groups in the industry. \nThe panelists of this discussion are Tanka Bahadur Mahat (Member Secretary\, Film Development Board)\, Phulman Bal (General Manager of Nepal Television) and Babita Basnet (Senior Journalist) . The moderator is Dr. Sachin Ghimire.

SUMMARY:Geopolitics and Cinema - भुराजनीतिमा सिनेमाको भुमिका
DESCRIPTION:The relationship between geopolitics and cinema has been a topic of interest for scholars and filmmakers alike. The panel discussion titled ‘Geopolitics and Cinema’ will delve into this fascinating and complex relationship\, exploring how global politics and cultural differences have impacted the film industry\, and how films have in turn shaped public perceptions of international relations. \nGeopolitics\, or the study of the interplay between politics and geography\, has always had a significant impact on the film industry. Whether it is censorship of movies\, funding for film projects\, or cultural exchange programs\, geopolitical events have influenced the creation\, distribution\, and reception of movies across the world. The panel will examine how global events\, such as wars\, political conflicts\, and economic sanctions\, have affected the film industry\, and how filmmakers have responded to these challenges. \nOne of the key topics of discussion will be the representation of different cultures and regions in movies. Films have the power to shape public perceptions of different countries and cultures\, and the panelists will explore how films have portrayed various regions across the world. The discussion will examine how geopolitical events and cultural differences have impacted the representation of these regions in movies\, and how filmmakers have sought to challenge stereotypes and promote cross-cultural understanding. \nAnother important area of discussion will be the role of films in shaping national identities and foreign policy. The panel will examine how movies have reflected and reinforced national identities\, and how they have been used to promote or challenge specific foreign policy agendas.  \nThe panelists for this discussion are Leela Nyaichai\, Roshan Yadav\, Prakash Sayami and Prof. Khadga K.C. This discussion will be moderated by Yogesh Dhakal.
