Synopsis

FERI culture is especially one of the tradition that has been practiced in village areas in Nepal several hundreds years. This is popular in Jogi’s Community. they practice this rituals 3 times in a year. At midnight Jogi wakes up and go to individual’s house, blow sound from special SINGHNAATH ( Antelopes horn) and early morning Jogi goes to individual house and receive donations and blessing. By doing this, people have faith and beliefs that they will have peace at home, get rid of evils planetary issues and nothing bad happens.

Director's Statement

Feri (Tradition of blowing antelope's horn with mantras) is a culture that has been carried on since ancient time in Nepal. Feri tradition is mostly popular in Jogi's communities. in this practice , jogi does " Feri" during night and go around the village to collect blessings and donations during the day. But our young generations do not have basic knowledge about Feri Culture. Even youths grown in Jogi;s communities do not have complete knowledge of this Practice. Therefore, the "JOGI" documentary has been produce to introduce our long run tradition to young generation and also to introduce Nepali typical culture and practice globally.
