In the Name of the Son

The protagonist Chae Geun (68 years old) is a surrogate driver living alone in Seoul. He often calls his son abroad in the United States and says he will keep his appointments. One day, Jin-hee (44), who works at a regular restaurant, talks to him. She said that her father, who was injured during the 5.18 People's Uprising 39 years ago, had cancer recently, and that her father's last wish is to marry herself... So Jin-hee asks Chae-geun to act as boyfriend until his father dies. . When Jin-hee is not present, Jin-hee's father pulls out a hidden pistol and shows it to Chae-geun. And he says, before he himself dies, he wants to avenge the 5.18 perpetrators with that gun... and asks for help.

I made my directorial debut in 1991 with'Song of Resurrection' and directed 7 feature films. And now, while I am a professor at Sejong University, I am mainly making independent films. The film 'In the Name of the Son' is an official commemorative film for the 40th anniversary of the 'May18 Gwangju People's Uprising in 1980'
