The Sponsor

The life of a young orphan girl named Kaushiki, living in a remote fishing village on the banks of the Saptakoshi river, is forever changed when an NGO worker named Bikash arrives and brings letters and parcels from her sponsor in America. But beneath the surface, this story is a biting critique of specific NGOs and their tendency to romanticize poverty. It also serves as a commentary on the urban middle class, represented by Bikash, who try to help the poor and vulnerable, but ultimately end up doing more harm than good.
