Aunt Lotus & Her Dream Bicycle

70-year-old Aunt Lotus loves cycling, and she intends to do just that — even though she is blind. After facing rejection at an audition for a bicycle-themed movie, Aunt Lotus resorts to constructing an unusual simulation with nothing but common household items.

"Aunt Lotus & Her Dream Bicycle" was conceptualised in January 2021, with the very fundamental vision – to encourage Singaporeans that no dream is too big or small to achieve. There is a universality that exists in this story. Harsh but true, old age often pushes people out of relevance, let alone having a disability. But this story will attempt to prove that it doesn’t have to be. We can always do something remarkable. Just like many fairy tales, this story begins with an ordinary character in an ordinary setting, yet we look forward to seeing Aunt Lotus pull off feats as incredible as building her very own cycling experience simulation, just with common household items! As Singapore's ageing population further grows, we hope to remind our seniors that there is grace and bravery in growing old, even when it may seem daunting when the world around us is constantly changing. No dream is too big to achieve, as long as imagination exists.
