Synopsis

"I Accidentally Wrote a Book" tells the very personal and inspiring story of a 12-year-old girl, Nina, who discovers the healing power of writing. As she learns to write, Nina uncovers her family's history, experiences the long-suppressed grief of her long-lost mother, and gains a deeper sense of self. Through her writing, we follow the daily life of a young teenage girl as she struggles to create art, while experiencing her first love and all the difficulties and beauty of becoming a woman. All this is depicted through unique visual elements that blend live action and animation, celebrating the wonder of storytelling.

Nóra Lakos

Director

Nóra Lakos is a Budapest based writer/director. Her debut feature: HAB / CREAM was released in the cinemas and has won many awards all over the world and the film was later picked up by HBO and Netflix as well. Nora’s second feature film “I Accidentally wrote a book”, won the best film award at the A-list Tallinn Black nights Film Festival Just film competition. The film’s script won the prestigious Eurimages co-production Award at Cinekid Film Festival in 2021. Previously Nora has directed several short films and won awards in many festivals amongst Sarajevo Film Festival with her short: Edina. Nóra is dedicated to work for young audiences and for that she founded Cinemira in 2018- the first International Children’s and Youth Film Festival in Hungary, which she named after her daughter Míra.
