Synopsis

The movie Kosedhunga explores the struggles of middle-class characters living in a poor village in the central hilly area of Far West Nepal, where issues related to foreign employment and migration are causing the community to empty out. The story revolves around the idea that if the sweat of the village youth falls on their own soil, it could transform their land, contradicting the main character’s belief that the province's suffering can only be alleviated by working abroad. The narrative takes a tragic turn when a relative, working in a Gulf country, is wrongfully sentenced to death, despite being innocent. His wife, in a state of despair and driven by her sacrifice, fights to save him, ignoring the indifference of official agencies. Alongside, the movie touches on the challenges faced by a young girl navigating the hardships of her life. The essence of Kosedhunga is that the villagers must invest in their own land and build their own future, rather than waiting for what the nation can offer. The movie concludes with a powerful message: rather than focusing on what the nation has given us; we must understand what we can contribute to our country.
