Merlie, Go Home

Shane David is a Filipino filmmaker who believes in the power of films to inspire hope and social justice. She is an alumna of the University of the Philippines and ASEAN-RoK Film Leaders’ Incubator (2016). She is currently working for The IdeaFirst Company. Her short film “Muli na ka, Merlie,” won the iNDIEGENIUS 2023 production grant from iAcademy and Netflix. As an activist who also experienced losing her childhood home, she identifies with the struggles of urban poor communities.
