Synopsis

Kamana goes back to her parents' house because her dowry isn’t paid. The film shows how the dowry system treats women as objects and makes them feel lost. Kamana wants to be free, but societal pressure keeps her from finding her true self.

Aashuka Aryal is a Nepali filmmaker known for socially conscious storytelling. her award-winning short film Confusion highlights LGBTQ struggles, earning Best National Short at NCIFF 2021 and the golden Reel at Tiburon International Film Festival. Her film "Kamana"explores pressures on Nepali women. She uses cinema to challenge norms and amplify marginalized voices.
