Synopsis

Thoracic surgeon Evgenia Belyaeva has one month to prepare for a flight to the International Space Station, where she must operate on a crew member. Will she be up for the challenge? Can she overcome her fears and insecurities? Will she be able to perform the complicated surgery in zero gravity, and give the cosmonaut a chance to return to Earth alive?

Klim Shipenko

Director

Klim Shipenko (born June 16, 1983) is a Russian director, producer, and screenwriter known for his commercially successful and technically ambitious films. A graduate of California State University, Northridge (Film Production), he has directed major hits such as Salyut-7 (2017), Kholop (2019)—one of Russia’s highest-grossing films—and Text (2019), which earned him both the Golden Eagle Award and the Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for Best Feature Film. He gained global recognition with The Challenge (2023), the first feature film shot in space aboard the International Space Station, where he filmed alongside actress Yulia Peresild, marking a historic milestone in cinema.
