Sunrise Over the Plateau

Xiao Xiaowai is a documentary director and producer at CGTN(China Global Television Network), with over two decades of experience in the media industry. She played a key role in establishing China Media Group’s Kuala Lumpur bureau and served as its Chief Correspondent from 2010 to 2012. Her body of work has been widely recognized with numerous awards both in China and internationally, including the Gold Camera Award at the US International Film & Video Festival, the Silver Award at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, and a nomination for Best Director in the Documentary (Technical Category) at the 29th Asian Television Awards. Additional honors include the First Prize for International Communication from the China News Awards, selection as one of the Top Ten Chinese Documentary Films, and the Shanghai Magnolia Outstanding Documentary Broadcasting Award. Xiao has been invited to serve as an international jury member multiple times for the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards and the Guangzhou International Documentary Festival. She also served as a guest lecturer for the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in 2021.
