Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) is one of Nepal’s premier annual film and cultural event. Begun in 2018, NIFF was established to celebrate different types of narratives and stories from across the globe.

After 4 years of successfully telling narratives from all around the world, NIFF is back yet again for the year 2022. We at NIFF believe that art is free of boundaries as we welcome films from all parts of the world.

NIFF has been a very welcoming platform for old and new film makers and we continue the tradition this year as well. This year we have the following categories for film submission and the fees required;

 

  1. Narrative feature

Narrative feature are the dramatic, inspiring feature-length films where the viewers will get to have an extensive foray into the vast caverns of film making and get to experience new avenues of the cinema art. The narrative features hold deep cinematic experience.

  1. Short Live Action

The short live action category will have beautiful and thought provoking films from all over the world. The intense story telling in a short time frame can be very challenging yet interesting.

  1. Documentary

The documentaries carry some of the most important issues that needs to be addressed in the current scenario. Documentaries is one of the very serious category of film making, which can speak in volumes with its cinematic presentation. This category is crucial to give the audience a quality cinematic experience as well as aware them about different issues around the world.

  1. Short Animation

Animations are always very magical to watch and enjoyed by people from all age groups. The short animations will be on the lines of being enlightening and artistic which are cinematically captivating films

For the National competition categories entries are free.
The standard deadline is on September 30, 2021 and the extended (last) deadline is on December 25, 2021. So the film makers are supposed to submit the films till 25th of December. The eligibility criteria for film submission and festival rules are elaborately mentioned on https://filmfreeway.com/niff2022

 

NIFF 2022 has also announced the awards and prizes different categories.

 

Awards under the international competitions:

  1. Gautama Buddha Award for the Best Narrative Feature film,

Includes cash prize (1500 US$) and trophy

  1. IFFS Don Quixote Award for the Best Live Action Feature film,

Includes a certificate

  1. Everest Award for the Best Documentary film

Includes cash prize (1000 US$) and trophy

  1. Bagmati Award for the Best Live Action Short film

Includes cash prize (500 US$) and trophy

  1. Manjushree Award for the Best Animated Short film

Includes cash prize (500 US$) and trophy

 

Awards under the national competitions:

 

  1. Best Feature film Award

Includes cash prize (1, 00,000 NPR) and trophy

  1. Best Short film Award

Includes cash prize (50,000 NPR) and trophy

  1. Best Documentary film Award

Includes cash prize (50,000 NPR) and trophy

The committee members at NIFF will be selecting films under the above mentioned categories and the selections will be announced after the deadline.

If you are wondering why to submit your films to NIFF then we have plenty of reasons.
At NIFF we care about different issues going on in the society and the world so according to the themes of the films we get we partner up with various nonprofit organizations, have panel discussions with them to get the message through loud and clear to a larger audience. If a film gets selected for NIFF 2022 it would be a good avenue for film maker to present their craft in an international stage connecting with like-minded film enthusiast.

The film makers will have an excellent opportunity to participate in our standard film event getting good exposure to top tier jurors, critics and industry partners internationally. Along with attractive title awards and cash prizes, it would be a matter of prestige especially for upcoming, young film makers.

NIFF 2021 had amazing speakers, jurors and film makers who gave the audience quality experience and for 2022 we are yet again delivering an event full of cinematic experience, intellectual conversations and a top notch event. NIFF 2022 is set to celebrate narratives from all across the globe, providing a standard opportunity for film makers to tell their stories in an international platform.

The film categories, awards and cash prizes as well as the final submission deadline for NIFF 2020 has been announced which is the 25th of December. All the necessary information required by the film makers are listed on our film freeway website (https://filmfreeway.com/niff2022 ).
